SLIP sources and maintains location information from across the public sector and beyond so you spend less time discovering more.
SLIP is an open data platform for sharing location-based (or spatial) information through data.wa.gov.au. SLIP is delivered by Landgate on behalf of the State. Data is made available through SLIP and data.wa.gov.au by dozens of State and Local Government agencies, supported by the WALIS partnership.
Thousands of datasets can be accessed through SLIP via a wide range of maps. We encourage you to explore what's available through SLIP today via data.wa.gov.au.
Most of the data can be viewed directly by anyone through public maps. Some data is available only by subscription. A small number of datasets are restricted for use between agencies in accordance with the Western Australian Whole of Government Open Data Policy.
Improvements to SLIP underway
Landgate is upgrading and streamlining the services delivered through SLIP in 2017.
New SLIP services and maps are also being launched throughout 2017, starting with new imagery services in June 2017. Further subscription and public services will be made available through data.wa.gov.au . These streamlined services will replace older SLIP ‘Classic’ public and subscription services.
Locate is a great way to get started with SLIP, and can be found in the Showcase section of data.wa.gov.au along with links to other useful mapping portals published by a wide range of public sector agencies.
A new online help centre at data.wa.gov.au will provide a toolkit for data providers, customers, developers, professionals and decision makers, as well as support, advice, and assistance to SLIP users as new services are rolled-out.
The value of SLIP is the data shared by dozens of WA public sector agencies. Find out more about the data by exploring data.wa.gov.au.
Landgate’s Customer Service team have been specifically trained to handle SLIP questions.
