SPUR, powered by Landgate, has announced Leanne Bicknell as the recipient of its scholarship to Curtin Ignition 2018.
Leanne, Director Risk and Innovation at Risk Report, was chosen for her passion and ambition, and her ability to demonstrate a market need for the location information-based services provided by her business. The selection panel recognised the benefit the Curtin Ignition program could provide Leanne in developing and diversifying her skillsets.
The scholarship allows Leanne to attend Curtin Ignition, an intensive 5 ½ day education program for aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and corporate innovators to trial and prepare their business ideas for the commercial environment.
“I plan to improve my knowledge of sales and marketing so that I can really get out and properly promote Risk Report”, Leanne said. “I’m confident in my product. The skills I gain from access to Ignition experts will help me develop my pitch and create an effective sales and marketing strategy”.
Risk Report is a cloud-based platform using geospatial information systems (GIS) and defined data sets to reduce the resourcing requirements and recovery period of critical incidents on complex sites while increasing response success rate.
General Manager SPUR, Peter Markham, congratulated Ms Bicknell on the award. “Developing new business skills through programs like Curtin Ignition is yet another way SPUR helps WA location data startups. Leanne’s idea will clearly benefit business and the community by improving user efficiency and reducing operating costs in incident response. We wish her every success at Curtin Ignition”.
